I was born in Mossel Bay, a small town

in the Western Cape Province in South Africa.

 

I studied philosophy and theology at the University of Stellenbosch and did my doctorate in Philosophy

at Johannesburg's Rand Afrikaans University

[now the University of Johannesburg] in the Gauteng Province.

 

I have lectured in philosophy at this University since 1985,

where I am a professor of Philosophy.

I received an award for 25 years’ service in 2010 from the Vice-Chancellor of UJ, Prof Ihron Rensburg [right] and the Deputy Vice-Chancellor [Human Resources], Prof Derek van der Merwe [left]
